Swish!

Rocket League has added a basketball mode, and it's fucking amazing! This is a 2v2 mode set on a smaller map with two large, suspended hoops at each end. The ball must enter the hoop from above to score, and the bottom of the net acts as a wall for the ball, but can be driven through by the cars. The hoop is high enough that aerial play is very useful, but low enough that a good bounce or ball lift from below can still score.
I score a goal from the tip off !
It works a lot better than I expected. It's also very difficult to score, since corner shots are all but impossible and full speed shots are not very useful. The faceoff is different also, In fact, it's not even a faceoff, it's a tip off, with the ball lifting high up in the air just like in basketball. This means that a good start requires aerials. I was actually pretty damn good at the faceoffs, scoring a few times and generally gaining an advantage.

The very best plays had one player shoot the ball at high speeds to make it bounce, then having the second player jump in the air and hit the ball in the air into the net. There are a bunch of cool little details to the mode too. The arena "feels" like a basketball court, the music is more hip-hop than EDM and the ball looks like a basketball.

But by far, the single best detail in this whole thing is the sound the cars make when they hit the court... When the cars hit the court at an angle, turn quickly, or when they land roughly, there's the sound of a sneaker on hardwood squeaking that plays! I just fucking love this little detail, it's amazing.
