DiRT Rally

Date played: April 17th
Platform: PC

Still riding my 1970's Mini Cooper, I completed two rallies, each with 4 stages. I am starting to feel better behind the wheel of the Mini, and I can push the car a bit harder without being reckless, so that's a good sign. I actually managed to come in 2nd place for the rally, including one stage where I was 1st! I felt really good about my performance, I've been steadily improving.

It seemed like the second rally knew all of this, and decided to fuck with me by giving me a snowy track... As can be expected, snow is slippery, and grip isn't as good as on gravel. But that's not even the dangerous part!  The trickiest part of racing in snow are the snow banks on the side of the road. The physics in the game are very well made, so much that getting a wheel off the road into the snow is almost guaranteed to spin out the car, as would happen in a real car...
Snow banks are deadly
This meant I had to drive fast as usual, but with even less of a margin for error than in other tracks. I ended up doing really well here, but it wasn't easy. I actually placed first for the whole rally which made me really happy and proud. In some corners, I did hit the snow banks, but managed to recover, albeit sloppily.  I'm scared of driving a faster car...
