Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Date played: May 27th
Platform: Wii U
Session fun rating: 8/10

My girlfriend wanted to play a bit of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, so we played coop for a bit and completed the second world and one level from the third. The second world has kind of a desert/cave theme. I often had to carve paths through dirt and sand, all while fighting enemies and avoiding deadly obstacles. There were also some cool puzzles where I had to carve a path for a heavy ball to hit a switch and lasers I had to block with my rainbow paths.

I need to stress that this game simply has to be one of the cutest video games ever created... I mean, it's so fucking fluffy and adorable, you can't help but smile at the adorable animation and decor. One of the cutest moments is when Kirby transformed into a tank. I could fire anywhere on the screen by tapping the touch screen, while my girlfriend had a more traditional aiming method with her guy. We battled multiple swarms of enemies in very cool and very hectic level.

The second boss was quite a challenge
Eventually, we reached the second world's boss, a giant, armored, spinning laser-spewing creature. We had to hit it's less heavily armored sides to damage it, but each time we destroyed a part of it, it grew larger and got more powerful lasers going... The last piece had to be torn off by ramming into the enemy while using the giant Kirby ability. It was actually a lot more difficult than you would expect, but we made it through.

We played the first level of the third world, an ocean themed area. Kirby and his buddy are once again, incredibly cute as they don their little diving goggles and paddle around in the water. Controlling Kirby underwater is kind of a bitch, since gravity is so much different. Plus, there were some pretty strong currents to swim against. Either way, we had a lot of fun playing this very unique game.
