Well, there's pretty much only main missions left, and I think there's only one or two of them remaining. I started with a mission led by Sitara, about a man named Thruss who is running for governor (I think?). It seems he's in bed with Nvite, the game's Facebook equivalent. I started with some good old vandalism, as I painted some obscenities over one of the man's billboards. We saw one of his emails after the billboard event, and it's clear that he intends to pass laws that will directly target hacker groups like DedSec. This is why Nvite is supporting him...
We can't have that, can we?
This led to an infiltration of the Nvite building and their servers. The place was well protected and honestly, it was really difficult to use my drones efficiently here because of how cramped the building was. Still, patience always works well in this game, so I took my time and dealt with each enemy one at a time until I was clear to go into the server room and hack away. It had a pretty good little hacking puzzle too, I love those.
After the mission, I saw an online event pop up, one of those armored truck missions. I saw that the other player was struggling against the cops, so I chased him down and made him crash a few times with some hacks. We fought a few times there, then I decided to use my drones to gain the advantage. I placed an explosive device near the package with my quadcopter, killed the guy as soon as he got close, then picked up the package with my jumper. I got into a fast car and headed for the Golden Gate Bridge, hoping that speed would help.
It did, but not enough. Another player joined the event, against me of course, and they chased me down. I had enough time to setup a pretty good ambush, but was surprised when I was sniped in the face by one of the players. It was a lot of fun, but the game mode seems somewhat flawed. Like, I should have gotten away with this. I was really far from them, I had a good plan, the cops weren't a problem. Maybe I needed a team mate?
Dusan Nemec, Blume's tech guy, caught wind of the events at Nvite's building and had to get involved. Basically, they want Thruss elected, but now that we fucked up the data Nvite uses to convince voters, the bad guys have to take more drastic measures. Nemec gives Thruss a USB stick with software that will help him rig the election machines in his favor! This shit is serious...
My job was to find evidence of this. Wrench helped me out throughout the mission, but I did the dirty work. This might have been my favorite "regular" mission in the game because it was set on the top floors of a giant skyscraper, which I had to reach by controlling a couple of cranes. The building was filled with glass walls, so it was really easy to get spotted.
My first time through, I was seen early on, and without any easy avenues for escape or hiding, I was forced to fight. I took out my pistol and tried to shoot my way out, but I died really quickly. My second attempt was a lot cleaner, since I did it from the safety of the crane, sending out my quadcopter. The ending of this mission was great. After finding some evidence, Wrench told me about his secret escape plan, a massive zip-line, leading all the way down to street level. The next mission was easy, as I just had to destroy the hacked voting machines. This would have been difficult on foot, but with drones, it was a piece of cake.
After this mission, I took a little pit stop to pick up a research point which degenerated in fun, GTA-style chaos. Near the research point, there was an escort, with a criminal record. I sent the cops after her, I just found it fitting. But then when they cuffed her and put her in the police car, I took joy in hacking the car to kill both cops, leaving the escort alone in the car. It was really stupid, but it's the kind of dumb shit that the best open world games encourage. I loved it.
Another mission sent me to the docks, where I found a Chinese man living in a container. It seems that there's some Chinese hackers that are causing some trouble. I met one of Sitara's informants in Chinatown, who told me about a building where I could find more info. The mission was pretty straight forward, but it allowed me to learn about the Chinese hackers some more.
The only way to get onto their network was through our hacked satellite, so I got to play around in space once again. I hacked into a Chinese hacker group, and after lots of hacking through cameras and on-site drones, I determined that some of their key info was on an ocean barge. We hacked the barge to force it to return to shore.
Of course, the next mission had Marcus drive a boat all the way to the barge then hop on and clear the area. It looks like the Auntie Shu boys were building an army of hackers or something. Honestly, I didn't really understand most of this story, but the mission was awesome. The barge was filled with dangerous enemies, so I was cautious and patient. It took a while, but I killed them all without being seen, hacked their server and ran the hell away.
The end of the game is coming up soon though, because now, Nemec has put a bounty on Marcus' head. Marcus is now one of America's most wanted criminals... There's one last big operation left, let's hope it turns out well for DedSec!

Climbing to the top of this skyscraper was really cool, but zip-lining away was even better! |
