I hosted a family party yesterday, and for some reason, we ended up playing a couple of fighting games on PS3. The two games were Mortal Kombat and King of Fighters XIII. Mortal Kombat is a known quantity, with most of use knowing the basics at the very least. However, I even got my mom, her husband and my girlfriend to try it.
My mom and her husband were really funny to watch. They smashed on the buttons furiously, but most of their attention was spent on being horrified by the extreme violence. The X-Ray moves and the fatalities were the biggest hits.
We also played King of Fighters XIII, mainly because none of us knew how to play it, so it was a fair playing field. Also, the amazing hand-drawn art was a big draw for everyone. This was a lot of fun because everyone was scrambling to learn how to play these new characters and new fighting engine. It was a big hit.
